California Department of Rehabilitation Vehicle Repair Assistance
The California Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) provides vocational rehabilitation services to eligible Californians with disabilities to help them prepare for, obtain, retain or advance in employment.
Depending on the individual's circumstances and approved employment plan, transportation-related assistance may be included when it is necessary to achieve an employment goal.
DOR itself determines eligibility and authorizes services. Proline Auto Repair does not determine whether a customer qualifies for DOR assistance.
DOR services are individualized rather than a standard package. Approved services are documented in the person's Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE).
Proline Auto Repair can help DOR consumers understand what documentation we need before scheduling an authorized repair.
DOR Vehicle Repair Assistance Is Not a General Public Auto Repair Rebate
DOR services are connected to an eligible consumer's disability, employment goal and approved vocational rehabilitation plan.
Vehicle-related assistance must generally be determined necessary and authorized through the customer's DOR counselor.
Proline cannot approve DOR benefits.
Customers should obtain authorization before repair work begins.
Who Is DOR For?
A person may qualify for vocational rehabilitation services when:
- They have a physical or mental impairment that substantially interferes with securing or maintaining employment;
- Vocational rehabilitation services are necessary for them to prepare for, obtain, retain or regain employment;
- And they can benefit from DOR services toward an employment outcome.
Individuals receiving certain Social Security disability benefits or holding a valid Ticket to Work may be presumed eligible, although the DOR process and service authorization still apply.
How DOR-Authorized Vehicle Repair May Work
Work With Your DOR Counselor
Discuss transportation barriers and vehicle-repair needs with your assigned counselor.
DOR Determines Whether the Service Is Necessary
DOR determines whether the requested service fits your employment goal and approved plan.
Obtain Authorization
Receive the appropriate DOR authorization before asking Proline to perform covered work.
Schedule With Proline
Once authorization is confirmed, Proline can review the vehicle and the approved repair scope.
Repairs Follow the Authorization
Any additional repair not covered by the authorization is discussed with you before additional work is performed.
Not every mechanical repair can be paid by DOR. DOR decides which services are authorized.

Consumers who already have an approved and signed Individualized Plan for Employment continue to receive approved services. Because this status may change, check the official DOR page for the latest information.
